NEW ORLEANS — They call it Gumbo, but not like the food  –  and not the language. This Gumbo’s different.

Drummer Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste, a native Louisianan and original member of The Meters, joined with singer Erykah Badu and producer Mark Ronson to make a new song titled after the popular culinary dish, beloved by the Creole world.

Modeliste, Badu and Ronson collaborated with Mos Def, Trombone Shorty and The Dap Kings to make “Gumbo” for the film RE: GENERATION, which has been described as “a remix, recreate and re-imagine (of) five traditional styles of music.”
